1. Renaming Process.
Dr. Deaton, the Senior Clerk of the School Board, is collaborating with ACPS staff to complete webpage and communication materials about donations tied to naming four school division facilities, which the Board approved on December 18, 2025.
Donors will have options to use credit cards, MySchoolBucks Portal, checks or money orders. ACPS accounting staff are supporting this process to ensure donations are properly routed and recorded.
At the same time, we are planning a timeline for ceremonies at each of the four facilities.
2. School Board Website.
Added information about the three Board Committees. Operational Excellence, Strategy and Accountability, and Governance Committees.
3. Advisory Committee. Reminder.
Final Committee Reports are due to the Operational Excellence Committee on May 1.
Advisory Committee Chairs will deliver their 5-minute Final Reports to the School Board on May 21.
4. Board Development.
On April 11, 2026, there will be a special board development session held in partnership with the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA).
Board Members completed the “ACPS Board Continuous Improvement Framework Survey” and Board Members received the survey analysis.
The results will guide both the Board Development Session and next year’s priorities and Committee focus.
5. Student Representatives.
Applications for Student Representative are due on April 17, 2026.
After Student Leadership and Superintendent Review, Operational Excellence will convene a selection board on May 7, 2026.
6. Operational Excellence Committee Meeting.
The next Operational Excellence Committee meeting will take place in the School Board Meeting Room on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at 6:30pm.
