Jean B Ried Media Center at Naomi L. Brooks Elementary school
Kerry J. Donley Athletic Complex at Minnie Howard
Owens Place at Early Childhood center at John Adams
Upcoming Naming Ceremonies:
October 16th: Keith Burns Field naming ceremony at the Parker Grey Stadium

2. Next Meeting:
September 17th
This will be a meeting to have an orientation for the Board Advisory Committee Chairs, Staff Liaisons and Board Liaisons.
3. School Board, City Council and Community Relationship
Chair Harris launched a city wide effort to welcome students back to school
This initiative invited all of our city council members to come out and be with Board members on the first day.
4. School Board Development and Evaluation
April 11, 2026: Board held a development session with VSBA and completed a continuous development survey
These findings were compiled into 4 process models

Communication
Individual Learning
The OEC is focused on communication, especially with the community and city council.
5. School Board Salaries
ACPS regulation BHD-R states that the Board reviews its salaries prior to an election year.
We will have a discussion on salaries during the CIP work session
Should the Board decide to change its salary, it will be forwarded for a vote in October.
