04.23.26 Strategy and Accountability (S&A) Update

April Meeting
The committee engaged in a conversation with Dr. Page about the process to set strategic plan Year 2 strategies and activities and how the Board can provide further support/input into the implementation. Dr. Page gave us an update about the work of the goal teams and invited us to participate in a feedback session on April 22. Additionally, we reviewed how other divisions approach the allocation of stipends for educators and coaches to support extracurricular activities. The committee agreed that we would like to provide greater consistency and transparency to how we approach these stipends in our budget moving forward. In particular, we would like to see the stipends integrated into our future approach for leveraging planning factors to support the development of future budgets.
April 22 Strategic Plan Meeting
The division hosted about 30 individuals from across schools, ACPS, and the community to present a draft set of strategies for implementing Year 2 of our strategic plan. There were opportunities for feedback on the draft strategies. Following this meeting, the Accountability office will be bringing some suggested edits back to the Board and the goal teams will work to develop their action plans.
Upcoming May Meeting
We will be hosting our next S&A committee meeting on May 12, 2026 at 5-6pm at ACPS (note that this is a change from original posting, which was May 11). At the meeting we will be providing an overview of the discussions the committee has had throughout the year. We will discuss a set of recommendations for how to approach the development of the FY28 budget and the proposed calendar.
