10.08.26 Operational Excellence Committee (OEC) Update

• Naming Petitions:

  • Keith Burns Field at Parker-Gray Stadium naming ceremony will be held on October 16th

• School Board/City Council Relationship Framework

  • The OEC will prepare a draft communication plan summarizing the accompaniments, initiatives and goals of the relationship 

• Community Engagement

  • School Board Town Hall on Nov. 10 held at the Board meeting room following the public hearing on the CIP

  • CIP Work Session on Nov. 12 at Hammond  

• School Board Development

  • The Board created an internal survey to help guide our three standing committees work over the next year 

    • The OEC is working to develop a Board training plan for the next year and the VSBA will be helping. 

  • Working on the next School Board Self Evaluation

• School Board Salaries

  • Board Policy requires that the Board review its salaries prior to an election year

  • An increase in Board salary may increase the competitiveness of School Board elections 

  • The OEC incorporated the feedback from the Oct. 1st work session into the memo now sent to the two other standing committees 

  • Any increase would only take place after the November 2027 election

  • The resolution will be discussed further at a future work session

The next meeting of the OEC will be on Monday Nov. 2nd at 6pm in person at the School Board Meeting Room
