Donley Athletic Field Complex at the Minnie Howard campus of Alexandria City High School

This year the first day was a city wide celebration - filled with our amazing students and staff, plus community members, elected officials and central office staff.

Tuesday's add/delete session left many in our community frustrated and confused — we were too. All nine members of the School Board signed this explanation of why compensation proposals were withdrawn, what's in the ACPS budget being adopted Thursday, and what it means for staff pay.

The Alexandria City School Board requests that the City Council postpone its scheduled vote on March 10, 2026, regarding the Resolution of Intent to transition ACPS appropriations from lump-sum to classification-based appropriation under Virginia Code § 22.1-94.
